The twigs at efy...

The twigs LOVE efy!!

They tell stories when they get home of
fun dances,
inspiring teachers,
and endless ice cream (that would be Hunter).

As great as those things are, there aren't pictures on the twigs phones of those things
but there are lots of pictures of the people they got to know and love;

their companies,

roomies,

counselors,

and session directors.

The theme this year was "Here am I" from the Bible, 1 Samuel 3:4 where
The Lord calls in the night to Samuel and Samuel answers,
"Here am I... Speak; for thy servant heareth...
And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground."

What a great theme!
I hope these fun twigs and us branches can always listen to the Lord.
I'm so grateful He speaks to us today.

A twig at Lyman Lake...

Our girlie loves Stake Young Womens Camp!

The Mr. and I got to go this year as cooks.
It's a beautiful place...

but the real beauty of the place is in the spirit and the people.

A few of us got to break away from the kitchen for an hour
when the girls were doing their challenge courses.
The courses are fun and "challenging" but the amazing thing
is what happens when the challenge is over.

The Stake Leaders asked the girls questions about the challenge
which related perfectly to life - parables of a sort.

The spirit was booming through the trees
and I was biting my lip like crazy trying to keep tears from shooting out of my eyes!
I had an absolute witness that God knows me, that life is good, and that we can do this with His help.

God is good and we are his children. He loves us all.

Twigs and summer jobs...

The twigs were working machines this summer.

Hunter had two jobs. His full-time job was working outside all day.
His hair got lighter (if that was possible) and his skin got darker.

He'd come home after work and play ball with the dog
until the next thing you knew he was dead asleep.

We sure enjoyed his entertaining stories around the dinner table.

One day he came home with scrapes and punctures on his legs
and a huge appreciation for Russian Olive Trees and their crazy thorns.

His second job was working several evenings a week at our friends
Hokulia Hawaiian Shave Ice stand.

I think if you asked him, totally his favorite thing about his jobs this summer
was the people he got to work with.    :)

Our girlie only had one job this summer but it was a doozie.
She worked 72-hour weeks as a counselor at a BSA Cub Scout Day Camp.

Just like her brother, her hair got lighter and her skin got darker.
She was conscientious to not take pictures while working
(and I couldn't stalk her like I did her brother to snap a few pictures)
so she only got a couple selfies of the staffers on the bus ride home.

She's crazy about children so working with them all day
was a dream come true for her!

(These pictures are from the Camp Website.)

We loved her entertaining stories around the dinner table too.
More than once she got a tear in her eye while telling
about her fun times with the children.

Like her brother, if you asked her, she'd say her favorite thing
about her summer job was the people.  :)
